A joint Initiative to establish an IPR Facilitation cell in the State of Andhra Pradesh

Cofederation of Indian Industry,Andhra Pradesh Technology Ddevelopment & Promotion centre (APTDC) & Govt.of AP has established an IPR facilitation Cell in the state primarily to foster an "IP culture" which would enhance the intellectual capital which is vital for economic development of the state.It would also address the requirement for inventors, Industry  &  Research  &  Development insitutes for Intellectual Property Services.

The IPR Facilitation Cell addresses the following service requirements:

• IPR Awareness & Training
• IPR Information & Advisory Services

IPR Facilitaiton Cell operates from CII-APTDC  office at Begumpet,Hyderabad and also has an extension at the ICICI Knowledge park.

Facilitation of Intellectual Property Protection of 'Pochampally Ikat' ads a GI

APTDC facilitated the registraton of 'Pochampally Ikat' as a Geographical Indication under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration & Protection)Act 1999.

There are atleast 40 Villages in the adjoining districts of Nalgonda and parts of Warangal in Andhra Pradesh,where the Ikat textiles are Woven.Registration as GI would enable the respective stakeholders to prevent unauthorized usage of the registered Geographical Indication for a period of 10 Years and it can be renewed further.
