This Module explored the IP risk management, PRE-R&D FTO search:, Freedom to market/ commercialize, freedom to operate : product analysis. Remedies related to various IP infringements were discussed. IP enforcement, IP piracy and geographical indications traditional knowledge and IP piracy new varieties of plants & IP piracy was also discussed in detail. |

WORKSHOP ON IPR FOR INDIAN JUDICIARY |

• CII- APTDC in association with the A.P. Judicial academy conducted a one day workshop on IPR for Indian Judiciary on October 18, 2008 in Hyderabad.
• The Welcome Remarks were given by Mr. Surendra Babu Reddy, Additional Director, A.P. Judicial Academy. He stressed on the need and importance of IP awareness among the judicial community.
Hon’ble Sri. Justice A. Gopal Reddy, Senior judge, High Court of Andhra Pradesh & Member, Board of Governors APJA in his Inaugural Address welcomed such an intervention from CII-APTDC and discussed the importance of understanding the nuances of Intellectual Property by the judges which help them in making decisions in IP related cases.
• A series of technical sessions ranging from IP Protection, Enforcement and Infringement were dealt in detail by eminent faculty members. Some of the distinguished speakers were Mr. Subodh Kumar, Head- APTDC & IPR, Mr. Raju Bhupatiraju, Foxmundal Little,Mr. Rama Sarma, Partner, Kocchar & Co. and Mr. Ramesh Vishwanath, Vishwanath & Global Attorneys. |

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN HYDERABAD |

•Intellectual Property Capacity Building is one of the important agenda in CII National Initiatives in Intellectual Property. CII – Andhra Pradesh Technology development & Promotion launched this Initiative through a three day Intensive workshop at Hyderabad.
The Objective of this Initiative is to impart Professional skills to Industry professionals to manage Intellectual Property on day to day basis. There is a huge requirement for IP Professionals in the Country.
Inaugurating the three day workshop at Hyderabad, Mr.Neerabh K Prasad, IAS, Commissioner of Industries, and Govt. of Andhra Pradesh said that IPR needs to be intertwined with all technology Interventions to enable Indian Industry to attain global Technology leadership. He gave several examples of the use of IPR in technology based companies. He also stressed the fact hat India has a very good patent law and it needs to be enforced properly. Industry needs to understand the rewards of IPR and invest in generating them and protecting them.

•Dr. S Chakravarthy, Advisor APTDC welcomed all the delegates and faculty and shared his expertise on IPR in India.
Mr. K Subodh Kumar, Head –IPR &APTDC in his concluding remarks briefed about the CII National IP Owners Committee initiatives and how CII APTDC is working to facilitate technology and IPR support to the Industry and Institutes.
CII-APTDC in association with Patint solutions kick-started IP Capacity Building Worskhop through an Intensive hands on Workshop on “Freedom to Operate” on 29 August 2008 at Hyderabad. Skills to assess freedom to operate in Global business environment are essential to ascertain critical judicial investment decisions in emerging markets.
