One step away from celebrating 25 years of the API
The date for the celebration of the “Silver Jubilee” of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering (API) is approaching, for which all members of the organization, members and supporters, are invited to attend the great commemoration event that will take place from September 17 to 20, in Panama City.
25 years have passed since engineers Miguel Ángel Yadarola and Reyes Guerra, with the support of engineers Gonzalo Jiménez, Carlos Santana, Robert Kersten, Lueny Morell and Hugo Wainstock, proposed the creation of the API.
The idea was born at a meeting of the board of directors of the Pan-American Union of Engineering Associations (UPADI), within its Engineering Teaching Committee, in the late 1980s. But it wasn't until 2000 that the first membership of the API was formalized, once the Foundation Act was signed during the celebration of a solemn ceremony that took place in Panama.
Today, the members of the API return to Panama to commemorate the organization's first quarter of a century. There they will celebrate the achievements achieved and will mark the path of the work that lies ahead to continue contributing to the progress of the profession and the search for solutions to problems in which engineering can help the development of the countries of America.
