IT'S POLITICS of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering that its Members are involved in a broad and decisive manner to achieve the validity of ethics and integrity in the contracting of engineering and construction services in all countries of the world for which
Work within the Engineering Organizations of your country, promoting ethical professional practice, with social responsibility, promoting the dissemination and adoption of transparent procedures in tenders and contracts for engineering and construction services and acting decisively to prevent, deter and, where appropriate, denounce acts of bribery, extortion, fraud and any other form of corruption.
It will offer or grant any pecuniary or other advantage, for the benefit of the Member, or the Member's Company, or to a third party, either directly by the Member or through intermediaries, to any official, whether public or private, local or foreign, to induce, influence or modify the opinion of that official to fraudulently obtain or increase the price of any contract or commitment related to engineering and construction services.
They resolve to adopt as their own for the Pan-American Academy of Engineering the standards of the Integrity System in Business Management of the FIDIC, the principles established in the new Code of Ethics of ACES developed with the concept of “zero tolerance” for bribery and corruption and they strongly support the Inter-American Convention against Corruption with special emphasis on the provisions of Article VI, which strictly specifies that the following acts of corruption and bribery are prohibited:
