Anti-Corruption Policy

IT'S POLITICS of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering that its Members are involved in a broad and decisive manner to achieve the validity of ethics and integrity in the contracting of engineering and construction services in all countries of the world for which

All Members commit to:

Work within the Engineering Organizations of your country, promoting ethical professional practice, with social responsibility, promoting the dissemination and adoption of transparent procedures in tenders and contracts for engineering and construction services and acting decisively to prevent, deter and, where appropriate, denounce acts of bribery, extortion, fraud and any other form of corruption.

No Member

It will offer or grant any pecuniary or other advantage, for the benefit of the Member, or the Member's Company, or to a third party, either directly by the Member or through intermediaries, to any official, whether public or private, local or foreign, to induce, influence or modify the opinion of that official to fraudulently obtain or increase the price of any contract or commitment related to engineering and construction services.

All Members

They resolve to adopt as their own for the Pan-American Academy of Engineering the standards of the Integrity System in Business Management of the FIDIC, the principles established in the new Code of Ethics of ACES developed with the concept of “zero tolerance” for bribery and corruption and they strongly support the Inter-American Convention against Corruption with special emphasis on the provisions of Article VI, which strictly specifies that the following acts of corruption and bribery are prohibited:

  • Participation in the application, offering, granting or acceptance, directly or indirectly, by an official official or a person performing public or private functions, of any item of monetary value or other benefit, such as gifts, favors, promises or advantages for himself or for another person or entity, in exchange for any act or omission in the performance of his duties related to engineering and construction services.
  • Any act of omission incurred by an engineer in the performance of his duties as a government official or as a person performing public or private functions in order to illegally obtain benefits for himself or for a third party.
  • Fraudulent use, dishonest or unethical, or concealment of property derived from any of the acts referred to in this article; and
  • Participation as principal, co-principal, intermediary, instigator, accomplice or accessory in any fraud or bribery, or in any other matter, in carrying out or attempting to commit, or in any collaboration or conspiracy to commit any of the acts referred to in this article.
  • Any Academy Member who is found in violation of any of the prohibitions listed above by his peers in the Professional Society to which he belongs, will Suspended in rights What do you have as a Member and if proven guilty will be expelled from Academy Membership . All Academy Members will be notified that that Member has violated this Policy, fully detailing the violation, informing them of their expulsion.
