Prominent in the design, restoration and construction of a wide range of works. He chairs CARIBE TECNO, Inc., a prestigious construction firm, with which he has developed and built monumental and emblematic projects that have been awarded nationally and internationally, such as hospitals, stadiums, coliseums, urban train buildings, tourist piers, office and industrial buildings, extensive parks and urban spaces, thousands of individual and multifamily housing units, from social interest to luxury units.

For the past two decades, it has been at the forefront of organizing various policies, programs and events for engineering societies worldwide, including close relationships with the 120 members of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, representing 30 million engineers. He is currently President of the Pan American Federation of Engineering Organizations - UPADI Sustainability Committee with 20 national member societies from Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central, South America, the Caribbean and Spain and Executive Director of the Atlas Initiative for climate resilient infrastructure.

Jorge Alberto Vanegas Pabón

Dr. Jorge A. Vanegas graduated in 1979 with a degree in Architecture from the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia, South America, and is a registered Architect in Colombia (inactive). He has pursued graduate studies in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Stanford University, Stanford, California, graduating with an M.S. degree in 1985, and a Ph.D. degree in 1988. Subsequently, he held appointments as Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University (Aug.'88—May'93), and as Associate Professor and Professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech (May'93—Dec.'05).
