Hemispheric dialogue on governance and collaboration among engineering academies of the Americas

San Juan, Puerto Rico

On July 22, 2026, the Pan American Academy of Engineering (API) will host the international forum Governance, Collaboration, and Hemispheric Agendas of Engineering Academies of the Americas, a dialogue session designed to strengthen institutional cooperation and promote a shared vision regarding the key challenges and opportunities facing engineering academies across the continent.

The initiative will bring together representatives from the Academy of Engineering of Mexico, the Puerto Rican Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Engineering and Habitat of Venezuela, the Bolivian Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Engineering of Brazil—our guest institution—for a conversation focused on sharing experiences, identifying best practices, and strengthening collaborative ties between the organizations that promote the development of engineering in the Americas.

Throughout the meeting, topics will be addressed regarding the institutional governance of the academies, models for the election and composition of their members, funding mechanisms, activity management, research and knowledge dissemination, as well as relationships with governments, the productive sector, and academic institutions.

The program also includes a session dedicated to analyzing the collaboration agreements promoted by the API and outlining a hemispheric agenda to strengthen regional cooperation.

More than just an institutional forum, this meeting represents an opportunity to consolidate a Pan American knowledge community, foster the exchange of experiences, and reaffirm the academies' commitment to the scientific, technological, and social development of our countries.
