Pan-American engineering stands with Venezuela

Puerto Rico

Hours after Wednesday's destructive earthquakes, we contacted the president of the National Academy of Engineering and Habitat (ANIH) of the sister Republic of Venezuela to offer the solidarity and support of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering, a gesture that was immediately and deeply appreciated by the ANIH president.

While we evaluate the framework for collaboration we can implement, following the priority rescue efforts, we are sharing information from the platform www.SismoAyudaVE.com so that academics and professionals from across the hemisphere can immediately provide direct assistance to those who require a preliminary assessment of their structures' safety.

The recent tragedy offers us a unique opportunity to express the solidarity of Pan-American engineering, especially with our Venezuelan brothers and sisters, as we celebrate this year the bicentennial of the 1826 Pan-American Congress in Panama.
