Biographical Data

Director and founding partner of Invial Ingenieros Consultores S.R.L., one of the leading Uruguayan consulting firms, participating in all its activities from 1972 to the present. Director of the Project and then Director of the work of the Fray Bentos-Puerto Unzué International Bridge over the Uruguay River, between the Eastern Republic of Uruguay and the Argentine Republic. Project for the new metal structure of the Solís Theater in Montevideo, Project for the Remodeling of several National Routes for the MOTP and advice on construction. Black River Bridge Project. Railway and highway bridge project on Route No. 6 Km.329. Project for the Second Bridge over Barra del Arroyo Maldonado. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Montevideo 1997/2002. 52 years of teaching at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Republic. Professor of the postgraduate course “Experimental Analysis of Structures”, University of Montevideo, 1997. Since 1999, Full Professor of the Bridges course at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Montevideo.

He has published the book “El Puente Internacional Libertador General San Martín (Fray Bentos-Puerto Unzué)”, 1992. Multiple scientific articles and papers, published in specialized journals, and presented at international and international congresses from 1954 to the present. He has lectured at national and international congresses in several countries: Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Chile, the United States, Spain, France, Holland, Venezuela, Panama and Honduras.

Full member of the National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay since 20/7/1977, of which he was Vice President in the period 1997-1999. Corresponding Academician of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay of the National Academy of Engineering of the Argentine Republic, 1998. Member of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering, 1999. Member of the Uruguayan Engineers Association, of which he was its president in two consecutive terms, 1985/87 and 1987/89.

Winner of the “Genesis” Award granted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay, to National Inventors, for the Invention Patent “Procedure for Strengthening Bridges” 1999. Appointed by the Association of Engineers of Uruguay as Outstanding Engineer, 1995.
