Biographical Data

In her professional education, she was the first woman to graduate as a surveyor and hydrographer engineer by the Autonomous University of Puebla and completed his master's degree in science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He received his doctorate from the University of Arizona With the theme Tectonic Evolution of the Guerrero Terrain, Western Mexico, which was awarded by the Geological Society of America Research Grants.4

In 1993, it applied to the Repatriation program of Conacyt and joined as a professor-researcher at the Northwest Regional Station of the Institute of Geology in Hermosillo, Sonora. She is a researcher at the Institute of Geology of the UNAM in Mexico City, where he carries out interdisciplinary research on topics related to tectonics and sedimentation, contributing to the understanding of the geological evolution of western Mexico and its role in global paleogeographic reconstructions. Her career made her a geoscientist reference in the geological, mining and oil fields and one of the first Mexican women to venture into forensic geology.

She was the first woman to preside over the Mexican Geological Society in the 2018-2019 period, 104 years after its creation. Its lines of research include Geochemistry and thanks to this, it has contributed scientifically, but also technically during 2015-2018, to the construction and implementation of the National Laboratory of Geochemistry and Mineralogy and in recent years it has developed the Laboratory for the Analysis of Sedimentary Basins. She was the fourth woman to become president of the National Institute of Geochemistry.5

She coordinated the academic committee for the creation of the National School of Earth Sciences of the UNAM from 2018 to 2022, and served as coordinator of the Center for Mexican Studies UNAM-Tucson, on the campus of the University of Arizona.
