Biographical Data
Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (1974), he completed his master's degree, doctorate and free teaching in electrical engineering at the same school in 1979, 1986 and 1993 respectively. He completed a Post-Doctorate at the Laboratoire d'Electrotechnique de Grenoble-France in the period 1987-1988.
He is currently a professor at the Polytechnic School of USP, coordinator of the LMAG - Applied Electromagnetism Laboratory and served as vice-director of EPUSP.
He has experience in the area of Electrical Engineering in the following subjects: power generation, electrical machines, transformers and metro-rail technology.
In university administration, Prof. Cardoso worked at all academic levels, in which he participated, through a choice of professors, as coordinator of all the central commissions of the Polytechnic School of USP. He was head of the Department of Energy and Automation Engineering for two terms and served as Deputy Director of the same school until March 2010.
He was founder and president of SBMAG - Sociedade Brasileira de Eletromagnetism for two terms. He was president of the EPUSP Graduate Committee and a member of the CAPES/DF Graduate Course Evaluation Committee. He is researcher 1B at CNPq.
Professor Cardoso coordinated more than 20 technology transfer projects for the productive sector for companies such as: Eletropaulo, CESP, Cia do Metropolitano de SP, ABB, Petrobrás, etc., published more than 60 scientific articles in indexed journals and presented more than 200 papers at national and international conferences. His work with the electricity sector identified needs that led him to register 5 software and register 3 patents.
Supervised 40 graduate students in Master's and Doctorate courses. He participates in the “Steering Committee” of major national and international events and is a reviewer of the most important periodical publications in the electrical sector. He is coordinator of the Technological Council of the Union of Engineers of the State of São Paulo and an advisor to FAPESP, CNPq and CAPES.
