Biographical Data
Dr. Alarcón is a Civil Engineer, graduated from the Catholic University of Chile and has completed his postgraduate studies at the University of California-Berkeley, where he obtained his master's degree in Engineering (1984); Master of Science (1991) and his Ph.D in 1992.
His area of work has been limited to structures, energy and engineering project management.
He is currently the head of the Department of Construction Engineering and Construction Management.
In 2004, he was a visiting academic, at the University of Salford, in Salford, Great Britain; and visiting professor at Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
He is the author and co-author of six books, and has published chapters in 10 other books. He has more than 50 publications in international technical journals to his credit.
It is a great pleasure to cordially welcome Dr. Alarcón to the Pan-American Academy of Engineering.
