Thomas Allen Gardner, Jr.

Distinguished member of the United States National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of ASME International. He studied mechanical engineering at the United States Naval Academy, obtained a master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a doctorate from George Washington University and a master's degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. He currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at Hewlett Packard Federal.

He has developed an outstanding career that began as commander of the USS San Juan. From that position, he assumed various engineering responsibilities both in the military and in the public service. He served as deputy director of the chief of naval operations for Science and Technology and as director at Raytheon, among other positions.

He led the accelerated deployment of a secure cellular network in Afghanistan and led the large-scale development of lithium-ion batteries for the SEAL's advanced transportation system.
