Biographical Data

Distinguished physical engineer graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana, with a master's degree and doctorate in science (Physics) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He did a postdoctorate at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. He is recognized as a university professor and member of the National System of Researchers (Level III). Dr. Castaño Meneses is currently Senior Researcher C (Full Professor).

Throughout his career, he has been Director of the Center for Applied Physics and Advanced Technology (UNAM), Coordinator of Foresight and Strategic Projects and President of the Nanobiotechnology Commission at the Academy of Engineering of Mexico. It has significantly contributed to the field of nanotechnology, synthesis, characterization and applications of biological, ceramic, metallic and polymeric nanomaterials.

Dr. Castaño Meneses is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Engineering of Mexico, the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico, the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Royal Academy of Chemistry, in addition to having received the Academy Award for Scientific Research and the OAS Award.
