Feniosky Peña Mora joins the Pan-American Academy of Engineering for its Silver Jubilee

Mexico - Dr. Feniosky Peña Mora, National Dean of the Monterrey School of Engineering and Technology Sciences, was elected as a new member of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering (API), as part of the institution's Silver Jubilee celebration.

The appointment took place during the XVI International Congress of Civil Engineering 2025, held in Panama City, the meeting brought together leaders, academics and engineering professionals from all over the region, who discussed the impact of artificial intelligence and technological innovation on socio-economic development and the well-being of humanity.

Upon receiving this recognition, Dr. Peña Mora said: “I am deeply honored to have been elected a member of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering. I also extend sincere congratulations to all the newly elected members, with whom I am honored to share this recognition on such a significant occasion. It was an honor to participate in this space of international collaboration and to see, once again, that engineering is an essential engine for facing major global challenges and building a sustainable future.”

Career of Dr. Feniosky Peña Mora

With more than 30 years of experience combining academia, public service and industry, Dr. Peña Mora currently serves as National Dean of the School of Engineering and Science at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

He also serves as President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), is a member of the National Academy of Construction in the United States and author of more than 250 scientific publications and six patents. His research areas include sustainable engineering, critical infrastructure management and the integration of digital technologies in large construction projects.

His career also highlights his work as Commissioner of the Department of Design and Construction of New York City (2014-2017), where he led strategic urban infrastructure projects.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Dr. Peña Mora is a graduate of Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University, and obtained his master's degree and doctorate in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The Pan American Academy of Engineering (API)

Founded in 2000 in Panama, the API brings together more than 260 academics and professionals from 27 countries, with the objective of recognizing excellence in engineering and contributing to the technological and sustainable development of the Americas.

API membership is for life and is granted through a rigorous selection process to engineers and leaders who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the profession and society.

Its strategic lines include the promotion of sustainable infrastructure, the preparation for disasters and climate change, the integration of young engineering leaders and the active contribution to the 17 sustainable development goals of the UN.

With this distinction, Dr. Peña Mora joins a select group of leaders in continental engineering, reaffirming his commitment to promote innovation, international cooperation and leadership that transforms lives.
